It’s amazing that one owner (Gary West) got Disqualified from not one but two of the most important races in the world. Also subjected to the longest investigation ever conducted by a racing association. We all know Saudi Arabia is one of the worst countries in the world concerning individual rights but this “investigation” was a total farce. The other amazing fact is that both of these DQ’s were unprecedented. First time in history that the Kentucky Derby winner was disqualified for jockey error. The Saudi race was the first drug DQ in history. At least Gary West doesn’t need the money, but he will always be a footnote in horse racing owner history. Sometimes there is just no justice but victim of unfortunate developments.

And it also cost the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund 500,000.

I still think the Derby DQ was hogwash. Interference on the far turn in a giant field….and having nothing to do with the final result is just a crock. The Saudi deal was creepy….took too long….horse came back clean…geez.
